Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach kindergarten in a fine arts focused public school. We are a title one school with many that receive free or reduced lunches. I am the English Language Development teacher, which means most of my students speak another language at home and are learning how to speak English while also learning the fundamentals of reading and math.
More than half of my students come into my classroom not knowing any letter sounds.
By the end of the year, they are reading in some form or another. They work very hard and progress rapidly!
In the first month of school, when asked what the beginning sound for the word "bell" is, they chimed back, "Ding!" They enjoy being creative in our art area, building with legos, and listening to stories.
My Project
Headphones are a necessary tool in our listening center so the students can hear the stories while other centers are happening in the classroom.
Listening to stories helps the students learn the language and identify the characters, setting, and events of a story which are important foundations to understanding a story.
Our headphones wear out after 4 years of daily use and we need durable, high quality headphones with a strong cord for multiple users. The reviews show that these headphones are durable and long-lasting. They are also noted as good for small heads for our kindergarten students. Thank you for helping!
