Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Over half of my students qualify for our free school lunch program. Many live in migrant apartment housing. Several of my students' families work in the fields or do farm work as their job.

All of my students are learning two languages, both Spanish and English.

They are being taught daily in both languages.

All of my students are eager to learn. Their parents want them to work hard in school and make a better life for themselves so that they do not have to follow in their footsteps and do farm work.

My Project

Having a classroom boom box to play both CD's and cassette's will help my students boost learning through listening. All of my students are learning both English and Spanish and being able to hear language will help enhance their learning.

Having a listening station allows any level of reader to engage with books and have them read out loud to them.

I already have a source for headphones all I need now is the boom box to complete this activity that could be chosen daily by all of my students during our reading center time. Let's help these students become fluent in language and reading!
