My Students

This will be my first year teaching third grade for the School District of Philadelphia. I have been teaching in the district for four years. Funding can be limited, and I would like to provide the best tools for instruction for my future students.

My classroom is very diverse this year, and not all of my students have the resources and supplies that they need.

Every student deserves an equal opportunity, and I would love to give them a chance to feel like they have one!

My Project

My students vary in reading levels. Some of them are reading well above level, some of them are reading on level, and some are reading well below level. To differentiate instruction, I need more materials for my classroom. Listening comprehension really helps students below level still enjoy books at a third grade level.

A listening center in my classroom will give my students reading below level the confidence they need to become better readers.

Just because a student can not decode words, doesn't mean they aren't capable of comprehending. A listening center including a chart stand, headphones, and CD player is a great resource to give children the confidence they need.
