Mr. Perez from Tampa FL is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need 2 Chromebook computers to use as listening centers because they will offer versatility and the chance to choose a quiet spot for reading!

My students come from low-income neighborhoods and often the most exposure to technology that they get is at school. They need as many opportunities to read and to interact with technology as they can get!
These kids are tough, resilient, and in need of all the chances, choices and hope we can give them.
I try to catch them early and give them a love of learning that will carry them through their whole lives, not just their academic career. They are very bright, eager and motivated. All they need now is experience with the technology that will speed their learning, surround them for the rest of their lives, and open doors for them in the future.
I am asking for a couple of low-cost Chromebook computers. These will used in class as hubs for students to listen to books in small groups and to practice reading in short, low pressure, recorded sessions individually. All of the literacy activities my students will engage in are already supported in web-based apps and in apps written for the Chrome OS. These will also give my students opportunities to create their own documents and presentations at a very early stage in their literacy development.
Our school is in a low-income area.
For most of these children, their best chance for an experience working with computers and productive software is at school. My class currently has two overworked, outdated computers that are not powerful or plentiful enough to make much of a difference. Just two more modern computers will have such an impact on my students' relationship with technology!
