Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students unfortunately come from very low income families yet come to school so eager to learn. I have 34 preschool students who are predominately Latino students.
The majority are English Language Learners who are entering a classroom for the first time.
It is unfortunate to see that these students live in poor conditions yet inspiring to see parents' eagerness for their children to learn.
Our school is very supportive, but unfortunately sometimes resources become limited and we must begin researching other options.
My Project
I would like to have this Hamilton Buhl listening station and read along books so my students can listen to stories while following in the book. Literacy is very crucial and this will be a fun way of implementing another literacy strategy in my classroom. The students love feeling independent and this station will also enable them to choose when they can use the center.
My students are very eager learners and do not have access to read alongs in their homes.
I would like to have this station available in my classroom for them to expand their literacy opportunities.
