My students need a listening center and books on CD! I have been playing music off of Youtube, which works, but would love for them to hear books on CD

My Students

I have a wonderful class this year! I am lucky to have a low census. There are 17 bright minds I get to love each day. The biggest thing, though, is 14 of them are boys! I am finding they require a lot of hands-on activities!! They are great group of boys (and girls) that need to get their hands in the mix of education.

We are located in a rural area of Illinois.

I am the only Kindergarten teacher in my school. We are well above 80% in poverty.

My Project

I would love to be able to provide a quality listening center for my kids here at school. As of right now I do not have ANYTHING that the kids could listen to a book on. I do have some classroom computers, but no headphones.

I am planning on doing Daily 5 in my classroom next year.

One of the main focuses in Daily 5 is a listening center where children can listen to books being read.

It is very important for children to be able to hear a book being read a variety of ways. This would allow them the opportunity to do this.

My students will be using this during my Daily 5 reading rotations. They will get an opportunity to listen to books being read, operating a listening center by themselves, and will give them a sense of independence.
