My students are very eager learners. They love to come to school every day and do so with smiling faces! They love learning and soak up all the information that they can.
Many of my students come from low-income families.
Many come to school without having breakfast and choose to eat the breakfast provided by the school.
Despite these challenges, my students never cease to amaze me with what they can do. They are energetic, caring, outgoing, and creative. No obstacle stands in their way because they use grit and growth mindset to overcome the hurdles!
My Project
Reading happens every day in my classroom. It is so important for first graders to get exposed to as much literature as possible. Right now, we have many books for my students to read independently and I'm able to do read alouds. But, we are lacking a way for students to listen to reading during centers, while I'm pulling guided reading groups.
My students need a listening center to help enhance their reading abilities.
With this listening center, my students will be able to listen to books on tape and CD. This technology will help to keep readers engaged in stories. The listening center will also give my students access and exposure to higher level text and fluent reading. He largest jump in a student’s reading ability happens in Forst Grade. This is why it is so important for students to read and be read to as much as possible. Having this new technology will allow them more exposure to other readers and texts!
