This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every child has a unique learning style. One of my biggest challenges is to provide a variety of opportunities to enhance each individual child. Having a listening center incorporated into our classroom will give those auditory learners a valuable space to thrive.

My students are enthusiastic and full of energy!

I teach in a title 1 school. Some of my students live in poverty and have very difficult family situations. For some of them, my classroom is the safest place for them to be. It is important to be able to provide them with materials to give their minds the greatest chance to grow.

My Project

I have books with tapes and some with Cd's that the children will be able to listen to and turn the pages. The listening center will be a place for students to have some quiet in the classroom and focus on literacy. It will be very helpful for my auditory learners!

When my students gather around the listening center and make choices about what book or song to listen to, they will begin to make social connections and learn how to become friends and share.

They will also begin to value books and develop a love of literacy.
