My Students

I purchased a listening center for my students and now I am in need of the audio books. These are students who do not have anyone at home to read to them and they are first graders who are beginning readers. I want them to develop a LOVE of reading and think the listening center will do it.

My school is a Title 1 school with most of the students from low income households that are second language learners.

Most of my students are also from families where there is little or no academic support given to them at home. They are excited about learning to read and I am hoping to keep that enthusiasm going.

My Project

This listening center has already proven to be a huge asset to my classroom, as the students can put headphones on and follow along in a book while it is being read to them; however, I need more audio books so that they continue to hear new stories. While some students are at my listening center it gives me time to work 1 on 1 with students who need extra help with reading skills.

This project will allow my students to get the time they need to hear fluent readers read and continue to give them a foundation of reading and a true love of reading that will hopefully improve their lives.
