This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever enjoyed having a book read to you on tape and read along with the pages? This experience has not happened yet for my kids. Imagine being 6 years old with a amazing listening center to help strengthen your reading skills in school. This item would help make our reading center better.

My students are amazing!

I teach a special education 12:1 class. They love books, writing, playing with math manipulatives, completing science projects, and earning table points for the prize box on Fridays! All and all they are a great group of children who are eager to learn. Their cognitive delays warrant for tuns of differentiated learning activities. Having a listening center in the room would excite and engage my students into becoming more developed in reading.

My Project

During Guided Reading I would like to send a group of my students to the listening center to listen to and read along with books on tape. This will help my students become more engaged and less frustrated about reading. They will be able to explore both fiction and non fiction texts without the struggles of reading independently.

My special needs students have to meet the promotional criteria to be promoted to first grade.

It is my hope and goal that by using this tool it will help boost their skills and they will all go to and walk across the stage at Kindergarten graduation!
