Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students face many challenges at home and at school. Our kindergarten class is an inner city school, located in the Bronx. Furthermore, the kindergarten class is located outside of the school in a trailer.
My students are always so excited and eager to learn to read.
They are amazed when they see a sight word they just recently learned in a book. My students would love an opportunity to have a space available in our classroom that has a listening center with multiple copies of books so they can sit and listen to a story on tape. Sitting and listening to these stories will give my students encouragement to continue to learn to read and promote a love of reading that they will carry with them throughout their lives. Kindergarten is the best foundation to build for a love of learning, especially reading. Being a good reader helps students not only in the subject of Literacy, but in math, science and social studies. Please help my students begin a foundation with a love of reading.
My Project
My students come from homes where many parents are struggling. Having a listening center in our classroom, will promote a love of reading and learning. Kindergarten is the most important learning foundation in a child's life. By providing my students with a positive learning environment which contains a listening center, these children will have a strong love of reading. They will forget their problems they are facing at home and delve themselves in a love of reading. Reading is a wonderful foundation for math, science, and social studies. This learned love of reading will help my students throughout their academic careers and for the rest of their life. Please help them develop this love of reading and a comfortable learning environment.
This project is so important because you will see the difference in a child's ability to read.
The children will develop this foundation at a young age and carry it with them for the rest of their lives. Having a love of reading with encourage my students to strive to do their best not only in literacy, but in the other subjects of math, science and social studies. Please help them develop this love of reading. They will be forever grateful.
