My Project

I teach fifth grade in a very diverse area. In my class, I have students that speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Patois. As a result, I often need to create small groups to help break down the instruction.

A listening center will allow me to prerecord individual lessons for each student.

The students will be able to listen to the lesson at their own pace and follow along in the text. This will allow each student to guide their practice by listening to the recording more than once or stopping the recording when they need time to process.

Prerecording the lesson will give me more time to monitor their reading during class. I will be able to move from student to student and hear them read since I will not be reading aloud to other groups. Thanks to the listening center, they can access the material independently!
