This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am fortunate to teach a diverse community of learners. In my reading classroom, you will see gifted students, English Language Learners, struggling readers, kids who are reluctant to read, and some with ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning challenges. I also have special education (inclusion) students.

What my kids do have in common is that most everyone is from an economically disadvantaged household.

With many students, it is up to me, as their teacher, to expose them to and build background knowledge of things beyond the boundaries of their home and neighborhood.

My Project

My goal is to allow my students to effectively communicate with others using academic and technical vocabulary. By using on-ear headsets that provide access for listening and speaking, my students will be able to build vocabulary and practice their communication skills. They can achieve this through use of apps like FlipGrid.

Headsets with mics will allow my students to build the skills needed for effective communication.

These JVC on-ear headphones will be put to use regularly to record audio for class projects, allow English Language Learners practice their speaking skills, and provide students with multiple means of representing their learning.
