My students need 12 headphones with microphones for our computer center.

My big dream for my students is for their reading ability to never be a limitation in their lives. I want them to be able to go to the college they want, get the job they want, and have the life they want but all of these things depend on the ability to read.
My high school students are all labeled with some sort of disability that impairs their academic performance.
They're in my class because their reading ability is below where it should be for their grade level. It's our job to work together to bring that reading level up, so that they're equipped to go off to college, or to enter the working world after they graduate. My students live in Ward 8 in DC, where unemployment and low-wage work is a harsh reality. They need every advantage in order to be productive and happy. I've seen a lot of growth this school year in their reading abilities, and I don't want it to stop in the 4th quarter. They want to be successful, but they need working resources to help them get there.
With these headphones, my students will be able to access interactive reading instruction programs that will boost their reading ability. We started out the year with some donated headphones, but throughout the year these have slowly stopped working, and my students are finding it extremely frustrating to try to get their work done with broken materials. The programs we use meet them where they are, whether they're beginning readers or closer to grade level. It engages them with current events and topics that are interesting to them. These programs have been proven to raise students' reading levels--but not if they can't access the programs in the first place. With these headphones, they'll be able to use these programs that will seriously improve their reading ability.
My students work every day through a lot of difficult circumstances.
I want to make learning to read not only an easy thing to do, but an enjoyable thing to do. With these headphones, my classroom will be a better, less frustrating place to be. With working resources, my students can continue to make reading growth, which will translate into greater success after they leave this place.
