Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are curious and excited to learn! Each student has his/her own unique talent. They enjoy collaborating on assignments and working together on group projects. My students are becoming independent thinkers. Whenever I call students over for a small group lesson they smile with joy. I encourage each student to ask questions and solve problems. Using concrete materials provided in the classroom, my children are able to understand math, science and language easier. They love to write stories and play math games!
My Project
I think that opening up a listening center in the classroom will help my students become more fluent readers, engage them in both fiction and nonfiction genres and help them enjoy literature without getting frustrated or overwhelmed. Some of my students come to my classroom below grade level and cannot access most books on their own. Looking at a text-heavy book can be daunting for some children. Having a listening center option can help students engage with a challenging book that they are interested in. It will also help ESL and SPED students access all types of books. Lastly, my students will be excited to sit in the library corner together and listen.
