This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Don't you love listening to a great story? My students do!

I teach first grade at a Title 1 school where the students come from low economic households.

My students don't have a lot of exposure to reading in the home and come to the classroom with various levels of reading abilities. I am a first year teacher and do not have many resources. A listening center will provide my struggling readers additional support in basic skills needed to be a successful reader.

My Project

My students will have a multi-sensory experience with books that models fluent reading with intonation and pacing. They will go on a journey where the story comes alive with sound effects and music capturing their imaginations and growing their love for books.

A new listening center inclusive of a cd/cassette player and headphones will help my students become better readers by increasing their vocabulary, fluency, confidence and love for reading.
