Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at an Elementary School in Oakland, California. Our students are a very diverse group of kids from the east side of Oakland. We believe that every one of our kids will strive and achieve their goals. We emphasize three main expectations: Safe, Responsible, and Respectful.

Our teachers want to encourage exemplary behavior - and we often bring treats to share with our students.

To that end, we encourage this exemplary behavior by giving away Jaguar Cards, after our school mascot. When classes collect 100 of these cards, we celebrate.

My Project

In our computer lab, we use a lot of web based applications. Students are asked to listen and respond to audio cues or even use text to speech functions. Kids in grades TK through 5 use them every day.

Getting new headphones means we can replace some of the tired, broken and patched together pairs that we have been using for the past few years.

These are sturdy headsets, and have lasted for several years, but many have reached their useful end. We want to keep our kids on that cutting edge by having the technology they need to succeed. Thank you for considering us as a donation.
