My students need Over Ear Stereo Headphones for Adults/Kids, Noise Isolating for websites that allow students to work on test prep skills websites for the Ohio AIR test that is taken in the spring.
I teach 5th grade in an urban setting. 100% of my students receive free lunch. My students come to school with the baggage from their neighborhood which includes murders, drug abuse, and other violent crimes.
At the door my students know that they are entering a safe space where learning can take place.
Some of my students not only come from a neighborhood that is challenging, but they also have learning challenges of their own. As a class we face those challenges head on, and work to make everyone feel successful.
My Project
Students are able to work on websites independently which focus on individual students skills and needs. Without headphones all of us are hearing each other's computers. Students are easily distracted due to their heightened senses (challenging community that they live in).
Our Ohio AIR test is important to us, and something we don't take lightly.
We take the AIR test in 3 areas Reading/Writing, Math, and Science. The math and science test are read out-loud to us so we need to practice our listening skills on a computer. Your donation would allow us to get headphones to practice on our own individual skills and truly focus on what we are learning.
We also need a safe and durable place to store our headphones when we are not using them. This will protect our headphones from breaking and being stored improperly.
