My kiddos are first grade students at a low-income school in AZ where 79% of students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Our school focuses on the fitness of the mind and body to help students become successful beyond our doors. My students are always curious and eager to learn and our schools is always striving to promote growth and innovation.
These determined, creative minds inspire me everyday.
My students always come to school ready to grow and become positive influencers of the world. With increased access to technology, they are able to accomplish so much.
My Project
Right now, when my first graders don't use headphones, they are easily distracted by what others are doing. This makes it so they are not able to fully utilize the technology provided to them.
Headphones help students focus and work on their computers or iPads without distractions from others.
Our school uses programs such as Google Classroom, Moby Max, Freckle, and AR to boost scores and provide practice for reading and math. We also want to start implementing projects that allow students to record themselves doing things such as reading, presenting, etc.
In addition, having a set of headphones and a storage bin for every student will allow me to assign them to kids to keep them accountable and to keep the headphones sanitary.
