My Students
My 2nd grade students are from a rural area. Our class has recently become a 1:1 classroom, with Apple iPads as our devices.
We need headsets so that students can stay more focused while they are learning, using them to listen to audiobooks, and using the built-in microphone to record their reading.
It is important to listen to yourself while reading so that you can improve your fluency. This opportunity is a great way for my students to learn from multiple avenues and be constantly challenged. They are curious and full of great ideas. They have already exceeded my expectations.
My Project
It can get noisy in a 1:1 blended learning classroom. Everyone is learning, listening, recording, and doing interactive lessons.
We need a way to be about to stay focused and produce quality recordings to encourage fluency.
These headsets will further personalize each students learning. My students are now recording themselves reading and then listening to themselves to evaluate how they are reading. They are also uploading their interactive read aloud to their digital learning portfolios where they get feedback from me, the teacher, and other students on their fluency and expression. Headsets with microphones will help create more quality recordings.
