Do you remember struggling to concentrate in school due to unnecessary background noise? Sturdy headphones for the students to wear at the computer centers would lower the overall classroom noise and help every single student focus on learning.
Technology is an integral part of learning in the twenty-first century.
The first graders eagerly await their turn at the listening, computer, and iPad stations only to be disappointed by worn out headphones with poor sound quality. Our current headphones have lasted for several years, but now it's time to replace them.
My Project
The students will take turns using the requested headphones at the listening, computer, and iPad stations. Instead of completing workbook page after workbook page of reading and phonics skills like we did when we were in school, this tech savvy generation completes on-line learning activities at the the reading level that's just right for them! In my classroom, I have first grade students completing second and third grade reading lessons while others are working away at the first grade level or reviewing needed Kindergarten skills. Of course, all of this amazing technology isn't amazing at all if the students can't hear because the headphones are worn out.
Sturdy headphones will make on-line learning activities more effective for everyone.
Let's face it, it's easier to concentrate when you can hear. Plus, it's easier for students at other stations to stay focused when they can't hear the computer, iPads, and listening center droning away in the background.
