My school district is a small, rural community in the heart of Iowa. We have some of the nicest, most thoughtful students in the state. The students participate in sports, clubs, Church groups, volunteer, community activities, as well as Band and Choir. We work hard each day, but, like many schools across the country, there is not enough funding.
The Band program plays a very special role in our small community.
We perform every chance we have: concerts, parades, dinner theaters, pep rallys, football games, basketball games, Memorial Day and Veteran's Day services, and so much more. The community is very close and so very proud of the Band.
My Project
The C-M Band program will use the Zoom H4N Pro to create quality recordings that will be beneficial in the classroom and in performance. These recordings will be used in rehearsals as a snapshot of students' progress and in performances.
The recording quality of a phone, laptop, or iPad does not do the student's performance justice.
The recording technology I currently have does not give students an accurate depiction of their sound. Students will be able to give feedback of their own performance from a quality example.
This program's goal this year is to perform at our state bandmasters convention. There is a very selective committee and to audition, the band must submit a recording. The students have worked hard for this opportunity; a quality recording is the next step towards this goal.
