This year I have a class of 23 very excitable, enthusiastic, and talented third graders. My students come from a variety of family backgrounds which impacts their achievement at school but I love that it hasn't curbed their desire to learn. We have a wide range of abilities, interests, and academic levels in our classroom, but we've built a strong classroom community that includes each and everyone of us. Though several students struggle with attention - we work together to help one another grow to be our best selves!
Several of my students struggle with sustained attention. These materials will help them keep focused by allowing for "wiggle" time in their seats. Much of our science curriculum is presented virtually in whole group setting with frequent breaks for "turn and talk" or discuss with a neighbor. For the students that struggle with attention, this environment can become very overwhelming. These students easily get lost in the distracting sights and sounds of so many students sharing their ideas at once.
I want to give all of my students the opportunity to focus and participate in group discussions.
The headphone jack splitter will allow the students to view the science curriculum in small groups and participate in more manageable group discussions. This will promote more confidence and participation among my quieter, or otherwise distracted students.
