This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember sitting in your parents' lap or curling up in bed listening to Mom or Dad read you a good book? Many of my students don't have the resources at home for this to happen.

I teach Second Grade at a Title I school where the majority of the students live in poverty.

Many of my students don't have books at home to read with their parents. They are very eager to learn and love to read. One of the things they enjoy most is our read aloud time. Unfortunately it is a very limited amount of time.

My Project

If we had a listening center in our classroom, ALL students would be able to curl up and listen to a good book regardless of what is available at home. Listening to someone else read not only provides access to a higher level of texts, it also builds sight vocabulary and fosters independence.

Your donation could help provide my students an opportunity to improve their listening, fluency, and comprehension skills.
