Listen to Reading
My students need a listening center and 2 more sets of listening books to use in our listening work station.
Don't you like it when someone reads to you? Well, so do your children. They love listening to stories.
The students love the listening center in our room and we don't have enough materials to make it through the year.
They have to listen to some books several times. They need to be exposed to different genres. A majority of the students are from low income homes and don't have the necessary resources at home and can only get them at school.
Studies show that listening to books boosts children's comprehension, phrasing, fluency and confidence as readers. The students need to listen to experienced readers so they can model their reading. They also need to listen to a variety of genres to build vocabulary. Most of the students here don't have that at home.
By providing funding for this project, you will help grow young readers who enjoy books and become lifelong readers.
You will also help the students become confident and fluent readers. Please help grow a nation of lifelong readers.
