My Students

My students are a group of students who are super eager to learn. Our school is in a high poverty area and many of my students are English Language Learners. We are also beginning to phase into a totally inclusive classroom, as we accommodate more students with special needs.

I love to see my students grow and they love to see their growth throughout the year.

We spend a lot of time focusing on letters, numbers, Kindergarten sight words, community, and writing. By the end of the year, they not only have to learn a new language, but be able to read. The students love to show what they know, especially when they learn new things.

My Project

Students in my school community do not always have the opportunity to listen to reading. By providing a listening center students will be able to listen to books on CD during small group instruction. The WhisperPhone will also be used in small group so that students will be able to listen to themselves as they work to learn to read and become fluent readers.

Listening to reading can help students to increase their vocabulary and reading fluency.

Providing the listening center and the whisper phone will help students to grow as readers that have a love for books and reading. It will also give them the opportunity to see themselves as readers.
