Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember playing cassette tapes on a 1960's tape recorder? This is what my students have to use everyday in our classroom! The recorder is so old it is constantly breaking down, eating up tapes, and working improperly. Not to mention, this is the 21st century and our new program uses Cd's!
My 4th grade classroom is full of eager, bright minds that come to school with all types of backgrounds.
My school is in a low income area with many non-English speaking students of all languages. It is truly a multicultural mecca. We have very few resources and money, of course, is just not there. However, what you can find at my school are wonderful students thirsty to learn, grow, and be successful in their young academic lives.
My Project
If my classroom would be so fortunate as to receive a new listening center that has the ability to play Cd's, each student's learning experience would be enhanced. Each day in my room, students look forward to going to the listening center to hear stories on tape as they read along in their books. It provides rich and expressive ways for students who speak very limited English to hear the language as well as helping them to gain reading skills. While students are engaged in listening and reading at the listening center, other students in the classroom benefit from small group instruction with the teacher.
Opportunities for learning always make a difference in the lives of students.
Every rich, meaningful, and exciting learning experience creates students who love to come to school and grow as learners. This is what I strive to do each day and every bit of updated technology helps in my goals. Thank you for reading my project!
