This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first-grade scholars attend a 100% free/reduced-price lunch school. The school at which I work is Title I. We are limited in the resources, such as student and teacher supplies that we can have in the classroom to facilitate student learning. It is a challenge to obtain basic school supplies as some parents do not have the means to provide these basic school necessities. They are unattainable due to factors that are circumstantial. These families do not have all the luxuries they deserve; however, what warms my heart is that, no matter what, my scholars come in with a positive attitude when it comes to an excitement to learn.
My scholars need proper classroom resources for learning in English Language Learning/Social Studies, Math and Science.
This will empower them to take ownership in their learning which will allow them to be successful.
My Project
This project is a result of malfunctioning equipment in our current listening literacy station. The CD player and headphones that we currently use in this learning station are beginning to fail when my scholars use the equipment. The headphone power buttons are not turning on and the CD player reader functions but sometime does not. This has been very frustrating to my scholars during literacy station time and becomes quite consuming when I have to work with students during teacher table time. If I have to get up to assist the scholars at the listening station, it takes away from the learning of my students at the teacher table.
We need equipment that is fully functional so that the learning is uninterrupted and the scholars can work the CD player flawlessly to enhance the learning.
My scholars love to listen to books on CD so this project is extremely important to have up and running. It will help my students to be able to independently use this literacy station with ease. If funded it will truly enhance my scholars literacy learning.
