I teach in a high-risk elementary school and currently work in the inclusion classroom. My classroom serves all of the children in second grade with special needs or who struggle in reading.

One of the methods to helping struggling readers is having them do read-alongs with books on tape. It is also a method they really enjoy. Our tape recorder has taken a turn for the worst and I would like to replace/update our listening center by getting a cd player for the children to do read-alongs with.

I will need a CD stereo with head phones as well as a variety of books/songs on CD's. With these materials, my students will receive additional phonics instruction through songs and poems. These materials will also serve as another option for fluency practice as they listen to stories, which is a major skill good readers need to acquire.

Your help will provide my students with the opportunity to listen to stories and songs that will help them become better readers.
