My students need 27 OMOTON Slim Bluetooth keyboards for typing documents on their iPads. They also need 27 on-ear headphones for self-directed learning!
Hello from 27 of the finest fourth graders in Michigan. These kids are energetic, willing to learn, and full of personality. They are mathematicians, scientists, readers, writers, artists, geographers, historians, and the like. They love singing on Mondays, being tricky on Tuesdays, telling jokes on Wednesdays, and thinking on Thursdays.
However, certain limitations are holding us back just a little bit.
More than half of our student population come from low-income families. Asking students to provide their own supplies for schools is difficult. Our district has been amazing at providing all of the essentials: notebooks, pencils, glue, markers, crayons, scissors, folders, etc. One supply that has not been able to be afforded has been new headphones for each class. Along with that, state testing requires students to be a good typist, but we don't have the means to practice at all times.
These students love learning in a student-driven style, by listening and learning on their iPads. However, Dollar Store headphones only last so long. We do a lot of typing on our iPads, but it's one finger typing on the screen's keyboard. We are hoping you can help us out!
My Project
The students lead a self-directed learning environment, and need to be able to listen to the content on their iPads. Every morning, they will be engaging in math lessons on their iPads with the use of these headphones.
State testing has really put a strong emphasis on students' fluency at typing.
In order to procure a strong, fluid response, students need to be fluent on the keyboard to keep their thoughts flowing. If they need to think about every letter they are typing, they can't focus their brain power on the answer they are trying to give! Students will be engaging daily during writing time to strengthen their typing fluency so they can perform with ease on the keyboard.
In a technologically-advanced learning age, I hope to ensure that each of my students has as good a chance as the next to be successful in the classroom and in their future! With these keyboards and headphones for each student, I can help point them in the right direction.
