This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Help make our classroom come alive! My students love to use all types of learning styles in the classroom but textbooks and worksheets do not bring excitement to learning. By listening, playing, and exploring activities, our classroom will become an engaging and fun place to learn.
My students are an energetic group of third graders at a high needs elementary school in urban Maryland.
We serve a population of 95%+ FARMS students at our Title I school. Many of our students are struggling in reading and mathematics but I believe that this project will help bring the inspiration and excitement that they need to help them learn and grow.
My Project
This project will allow my students to listen, play, and explore to help them learn. We will use each resource during centers time to allow students to access content using a variety of learning styles. The listening center will allow my third graders to access chapter books in order to improve their comprehension, fluency, and love for books. The math folder games and dice will bring out the competitor within my students and before they know it they will have won a game and learned math at the same time. The bugs will allow my students to have a hands-on and visual experience during our first science unit to explore the world of insects.
"Everybody is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid" -Albert Einstein.
My students are all capable of achieving success in the third grade and beyond. Help our class move beyond worksheets to engaging activities where they can listen, play, and explore to become their own individual genius.
