My Students

Because our kindergarten class has 29 students they need meaningful independent learning center activities to use while I am working with smaller groups of students.

Our Elementary is a large school in Newark, OH.

51% of our students qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. Our kindergarten class has 29 students and is quite diverse in it's makeup. Gifted students, special needs students, low-economic students, high-economic students, avid and reluctant readers all work side by side in a safe and happy learning environment.

My Project

My students need wireless headphones and Book/CD sets for our listening center. They will use these listening center materials daily. This will allow my students to listen and respond to literature independently and with a small group. Listening to literature helps children to understand how books should sound and prepares them for fluent reading. This will enable me to work with small groups of children knowing that other students' learning time continues to be meaningful.

These materials will spark an excitement for reading.

Once the spark is lit, students will want to read more and more. Soon they will become readers who are growing, thinking, and changing in incredible ways.
