Help me give my students a classroom listening center including a cd/cassette player with Bluetooth and 6 wireless headphones to build their reading skills.
One of my favorite things about teaching kindergartners is seeing and hearing their enthusiasm for learning. When they begin to recognize words as they learn to read, they can't wait to share their new discovery with me. They love to listen to stories that I read to them and then discuss their favorite part. Our new language arts curriculum encourages students to make connections with stories we read in order to better understand them.
With our school's growing English Language Learner population as well as those with varied educational skill levels, I am eagerly looking for ways to make sure that all my students are reading when they leave kindergarten.
I know that being literate will lead them to many opportunities for success in their future.
My Project
My students are energetic and excited to learn about the world around them. One of my favorite things about them is when I read a story to them, they laugh at the funny parts and eagerly share their connections to the characters or events.
A classroom listening center with a cassette/cd player with bluetooth capability and 6 wireless headphones will offer more opportunities to learn about the world while building their literacy and language development.
They will listen to stories in small differentiated learning groups during our center time and then give their responses either verbally or in writing. The bluetooth capability will give us access to even more literature resources through the use of iPads, iPhones, and other media center sources.
Our Common Core Language Arts Standards emphasize phonemic awareness, phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills, which students will hear and practice by using our state-of-the-art listening center.
