My Students
Our school is in a high poverty, inner city area where many of our students don't have access to books or academic materials at home. My classroom has 15 energetic, book loving students from many different backgrounds and countries.
These first grade kiddos are just beginning their educational journey and love for reading, writing, math and school.
Students engage with learning through technology, small group conversations, games and individual work. Technology gives students the ability to work with standards in a different and engaging way.
My Project
These headphones will help students better access the technology they use on a daily bases in the classroom. I utilize technology in math and reading to have students practice taught standards in a different way.
Many of my students have English as a second language so good working headphones are fantastic for them to hear spoken directions and books.
In math, students use a program which allows me to match their practice sections with the lessons taught that day. I am also able to track their progress and see what areas they need additional practice. For reading, students have the chance to listen to books read to them on the iPad. This is so beneficial not only to ESL students but to all first grade students learning to read.
