Listen Carefully: Earbuds and Speakers for the Technology Classroom
My students need individual earbuds to replace shared, broken headphones, earbud organizers for each class and external speakers for whole class demonstrations.
We are a charter school in the Greater St. Louis area in the first year of our technology curriculum. We are a community that prepares all students for success and equips them to be caring, compassionate citizens and leaders. Each K-5 leader attends technology class two or three days each week.
From basic computer operations to computer science, students of all ages are mastering a variety of skills using creative problem solving, teamwork, and academic risk-taking.
Many activities: coding challenges, spelling tests, keyboarding games - require the students to listen to crucial instructions.
My Project
Each day, students pour into the Technology classroom eager to begin class. Laptops, computer mice, and headphones are continuously set up, cleaned up, and prepared for the next class. Students take great pride in caring for the equipment, but rigorous use of the classroom headphones has led to a fleet of poorly functioning audio equipment. Students have started to feel lucky if they find a pair with a single functioning "ear".
Individual earbuds will give every student the chance to fully engage with a spectrum of projects, lessons, games - even tests.
Plastic organizers will keep these new devices tangle-free and easy to transport to different classrooms. External speakers will allow students in all corners of the classroom to engage in full-class lessons and demonstrations. In short, students will become fully immersed in an already dynamic classroom.
