Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is located very close to the nation's capital and is a highly impacted community with the majority of students living in poverty. For the majority of my students, English is not their first language which can often make reading and writing an even bigger challenge. Our families often do not have the resources to purchase books or technology.
Please help me to instill a love of reading and learning in my students!
I would like to enable my students to be 21st century readers by providing them access to books of all levels that will inspire them to grow and flexible seating to meet the needs of the several different learning styles in my classroom!
My Project
Throughout my reading block, students have several different activities to complete. While they come to group and work with me with a few other students for a short period of time, while not in group my students are expected to work independently. In now almost 2020, technology is impossible to escape. Thankfully, the use of technology helps to keep my students engaged and excited about learning throughout our reading class. Unfortunately, I currently do not have a class set of headphones. This makes using certain technology and apps like listening to a book online or playing educational games with sound extremely difficult.
A class set of headphones will help to keep my students even more excited and engaged in their learning and reading.
Additionally, each student having their own headphones will prevent students who are not using technology from being distracted by any sounds from students who are. By each student having their own set of headphones this will also help to teach my students responsibility, which is another piece of teaching that I value heavily.
