I have the incredible opportunity of teaching students from all over the United States and world. Our school's diversity grows each year as we gain students from various socio-economic backgrounds, cultures and languages. Our students all have one thing in common, our school! We embrace a positive classroom culture and hands-on approach to learning. Many of our students come in contact with technology every day through school or at home, but have not been exposed to coding.
Our students are diverse leaders with a desire to learn, grow and make a difference in the school.
I have students of various academic levels throughout my day as I teach Academically Gifted Guided Reading and Math and various abilities for reading, writing, social studies and science.
My Project
In my classroom, I am fortunate to have many readers who can read and comprehend grade level texts. My kids love reading and love to do silent reading when they complete assignments. With these reading phones, students will be able to pick up a phone at any time and read to themselves. Listening to their own voices as they read aloud is proved to increase fluency and vocal inflections as they read. No one wants to listen to a robot read, yet that is how many new readers begin as they are focused on getting words correct and understanding the text.
This tool will put the learning in the hands of the student (literally!).
As they complete assignments, each student will have the opportunity to read and grow their own fluency at the same time. Thank you for supporting this fun, engaging way for students to develop into excellent readers!
