Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are 4th graders in a low socioeconomic status area. Three-fourths of my students receive free or reduced lunch. They come to school ready, enthusiastic, and yearning for new knowledge.
While many of my students lack resources at home, they strive to excel in the classroom.
It is not uncommon for my students to want to stay in during recess or after school to enhance their own learning. Our community rallies for and values education and is supportive of our school and our students.
My Project
First of all, thank you for supporting my students with your donation. Creative writing has been a focus in my classroom this year. My goal was to show my students just how fun writing can be, while still addressing state standards for the three different writing types: informative, opinion, and narrative. We have done a variety of writing styles; however, a few weeks ago my students created a voice over for a short film I found online. This activity was a huge hit! Although students used the same short film, the story lines and dialogue created for the characters were so different and interesting. Ever since this project, my students have inspired to create creative stories of their own.
My students will use the Fire 7 tablet to listen to audiobooks, find short films online, or record stories of their own that will only limited by their imaginations.
This tablet will be added to our creative writing station along with class set of earbuds. The case will protect the tablet
