My students need hands-on activities to support the learning they get from books and worksheets.
This project expired on April 17, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
"You don't understand anything until you learn it more than one way," Marvin Minsky said. My students apply this every week as they investigate new concepts and ideas.
My students are in kindergarten through fifth grade classes for students with severe disabilities.
They attend a public elementary school with their neighborhood peers. Their differing abilities include Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Epilepsy, visual impairments, and hearing impairments. Many have parents currently serving in the U.S. Military.
The science themed boxes that I am requesting are amazing! These colorful, bright, and well organized materials will allow my students hands-on science activities to learn about the weather, transportation, nutrition, oceans, insects, space, and wild animals.
Thanks to your generosity, students from 5 to 12 years of age with severe disabilities will have hands-on, science lessons and activities.
This will help expose them to important topics like their general education peers. These materials will also open up untold learning opportunities in the future.
