Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am so lucky to teach to a group of children who still wonder, imagine, and get excited about new things. I am a teacher of beautiful children who are ready to take on the future. They love coming to school and are excited about each new thing that I am able to teach them.
These 5-6 year olds come from a low income neighborhood where mobility is a way of life.
Most of our children are being raised by their grandparents and unfortunately do not get to experience the opportunities that are readily available for the majority of children.
My Project
Most of the children in our school aspire to work at McDonalds or the Dollar Store. I want them to know that the their world is bigger than whats down the street. In this ever increasingly tech dominated world, children need to learn and understand how big our world is. When my students receive the Chromebooks we will start our adventure into an ever increasing world of information.
Our animal research unit asks our students to be able to navigate and find information about topics which interest them.
My students, who come from a low income households, will not understand what the world has to offer unless I can expose them to it. Having the 4 Chromebooks in our classroom will allow me to guide them and set the foundation for my students to see the world and all it has to offer.
With the Chromebooks I plan to set the foundation for them to learn how to find out about things that interest them. I want them to be able to utilize the Chromebooks to access different City Zoo', National Geographic, and other animal outlets. I want them to be able to see and hear animals for them to better understand their world.
