My students need a flatscreen television and wall mounting kit so that our school can celebrate our students successes and encourage a positive school climate.
Our school has undergone much change in recent years. We want to establish a sense of unity among our students, staff and families. We want to make school a place where learning is hands on and exciting and successes are celebrated by all.
I am the school counselor in a high poverty school with a large English language learner population.
We also serve both LD and ID special education programs. Many times my students do not receive their basic needs at home and school is a place of refuge. We do not currently have a PTA support system and have very few resources to meet our growing student needs. My students crave positive support and encouragement to help them become successful.
We as a school staff are focused on building a sense of community among our students and sharing in each others successes. We want students to feel accepted and supported in their academic journey. We want them to be encouraged by each other and be encouraging to others. We want to celebrate their growth as a school community and to empower students to take ownership of their academic achievements.
My Project
Our students will use the television and mounting system in our cafeteria as a means to communicate school events, announcements and celebrations to the entire student population. Students as well as staff will be able to create and share media presentations with the school at large. This will highlight our student successes as well as encourage students to learn more about each other and our school community. Students will help each other promote a more positive school community and gain technology experience in the process.
This project will enhance our students sense of pride in their school community as well as give them opportunities to create their own unique technology presentations to share with the school.
