My fourth grade Honors Language Arts class is reading C.S. Lewis' The Magician's Nephew. We are listening to the audio book each day and enjoying our adventures in the "Wood Between the Worlds." (I read the book to my class last year, but something about my southern "twang" just did not sound right for the book's English setting!) We read The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe earlier in the year and attended the opening of the Disney version of the film, which was released December 9. Before seeing the movie, each student had to create their own version of the wardrobe from a cereal box. The final products were excellent, and it was exciting to see the detailed scenes hidden behind the wardrobe doors. The purpose of this proposal is to seek a donor to provide multiple copies of The Chronicles of Narnia and teaching tools for my class. Several of my students are determined to read the entire series and look forward to their adventures in Narnia. We have independent reading time in class daily, and my students make use of my classroom library for their reading selections. I would love to have copies of The Chronicles of Narnia to share with them. Your sponsorship will mean that this can be an important part of our curriculum for years to come.
