My Students

The library is a busy place during the school day and during the summer. We have projects, from puzzles and LEGOs, to iPads and video production, available at all times. It is the hub of the school!

Our library is a place students love to come to, and not just for a good book.

Our school has a population of over 600 Kindergarten to 5th grade students. All visit the library for 45 minutes at least once a week. We are happy that we have created an environment where students feel welcome to come many times during the week outside of class time. We are a growing rural community with almost 50% of our students receiving free or reduced price lunches.

My Project

This summer my students will be building some awesome log cabins and learning the economics of building. What better way to do it then with Lincoln Logs? We will price the Lincoln Log materials and give each student a budget.

Students will be tasked with keeping their costs within budget, while building the best log cabin they can.

Students will learn that all their wants may not fit in their budget and will have to make choices. This project will give my students the opportunity to learn economics in a new and fun way. A way that they will remember!
