Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

On a quiet high school campus in a small city, there is a room filled with noise. All day, students play band and orchestra instruments, as well as piano and guitar. When the school day ends, many of the students stay to sing. The students prepare for performances throughout the year, including festival competitions, concerts, and local performances. When they graduate, some return to continue to help future graduates with the musicianship.

My students come from an extremely diverse background, though most need financial assistance.

They work hard both inside and outside of the classroom to achieve their goals.

My Project

While we have stage lights and a spotlight for our stage, we do not currently have an appropriate way to mount the lights. As a result, the lights sit on the stage floor, and tend to blind the performers and put shadows in odd places.

Stands for our lights would help our shadows show in the right place, and get the lights out of the performers' eyes.

Long black extension cords would help keep audience attention away from the lighting system and on the performers themselves. It would also allow our student techs to sit further away from the stage while controlling lights, which would allow them to see the lighting from the audience perspective.
