We are part of a large district but have a high ratio of special education and economically disadvantaged students. At this time, our hard-working kids need additional support to pass the End of Course Exam that is necessary to graduate.
As their teacher, it is my desire to procure all the items and manipulatives I can to encourage their motivation to learn in a safe and comfortable environment.
Anything that might benefit them, is something I am willing to try, although finances might not always allow. I have the best students in the world and want to teach them to the best of my ability so they have the skills necessary to be successful in school and life. Many of the educational philosophies today are to teach with our students' interests in mind, and that is my desire.
My Project
My students and district were greatly impacted by Hurricane Harvey. After last year's havoc, we are still recovering from homes to technology. Many students yearn for the comfort and routine of the classroom while their homes are in disarray.
We do not have a textbook in my class and our interactive notebooks are key in the development of their math skill and learning.
Without these notebooks, students would not have the necessary information to be successful in math. With interactive notebooks, there are a lot of stimulating color and design that is displayed through document cameras.
The Lumens Ladibug requested is capable of photos and video which are sometimes necessary to optimize learning and organization. It is also compatible with the Windows 10 computers of today to allow for full functioning. My students would not only benefit from being able to see an exact copy of their work on a screen, it is necessary to learn. It is impossible to fully benefit from the interactive notebook without this document camera. It is also fully functional in our school setting and computers which is often a challenge in the security school now have.
After the last year of our lives and the harsh realities of still being in transition from Hurricane Harvey, my desire is for my classroom to be a comfortable and flexible learning environment to learn and grow for my students. Thank you for helping me realize this reality!
