Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Clay Bedford once said, "You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives."
I work with 75 4th and 5th grade students who are very fortunate to attend a school where all the teachers work extremely hard in preparing them to becoming global citizens with 21st century skills.
However, my students come from homes with very limited resources and lack of books let alone technology.
My Project
I want to get an iPad for my students because of all the educational apps that are available to enhance what we are learning in the classroom. Over the last two months, we've had students enroll into our class from Bangladesh, France, Mongolia, Korean, and Guatemala. Apps like "AlphaWriters" and "iWriteWords" can help get them acquainted to the English letters and sounds. Read alouds like "Pictello" can be another source that provides language models. And for all of our wonderful students, apps like "Lights, Camera, Action" can provide an outlet for students to transform their thoughts into animated stories. The possibilities are endless!
Your donation will help provide a tool that will keep on giving.
My students will be able to let their creative juices flow and make amazing things while developing amazing projects as well as improve their reading and math skills.
