My students need Ipad tripods and microphones to enhance their video recording abilities.

I currently teach computer technology to 1st through 5th graders in a NYC public school classroom. My students are vibrant, creative, and enthusiastic! They have a great sense of humor and have built a strong, supportive classroom community. They love to learn and come to school every day ready to explore new topics.
My hard-working and brilliant students far exceed the expectations society places on them on a daily basis.
Our school is also centrally located in a low-income neighborhood, where educational resources are not always available to our students. However, my students don't let their environment or labels define their education or potential. They are constantly asking, "What are we learning next?" or "Can we research that some more?" My students' love for learning fosters my love for teaching. Their determination to do their best each and every day motivates me to give 110% to everything I do with them!
An exciting addition to the computer lab this year will be video production. Last year, my students got a chance to visit the Apple store where they learned all about developing ideas, storyboarding, filming, and editing original projects. This is a great educational tool for 21st Century learners because they get a complete hands-on approach to developing an idea into a finished product. It also fosters teamwork and collaboration.
The tripods and microphones will be used by the students in the lab to develop video projects that connect to topics they are learning in class.
They can film a re-enactment of a book they are reading with their ELA teacher. They can produce a tutorial on how to solve a multiplication problem using a specific strategy. These materials will enhance their video production to create a finished product they will be proud of.
Additionally, our school A/V club will use these items to assist in their capturing of school events and launching our first school video announcements and news report!
