The hands-on learning we do in fourth grade is so exciting and engaging, I wish every parent could see how hard their kids work every day. With a digital camera, I could document the effort they put into projects and display the pictures for parents to enjoy.
My students are bright, excited young learners who enjoy coming to school!
They love to learn and they are motivated by doing interesting, hands-on activities. I love capturing their excitement about school on camera to share with their families. We currently share one digital camera among the five sections of fourth grade and my children are often upset when I am unable to locate the camera to take pictures of them hard at work.
My Project
With 1 digital camera, I will be able to capture and share my students' hard work and excitement on film. I can take videos of them collaborating with their peers to share with family members. I can also use the camera to photograph them at class parties and PTA sponsored school events to show parent volunteers how much we appreciate all they do for us. When the students create visual aids for projects, they can record videos of themselves to present to the class. The students can use the camera on outdoor nature walks when we do Science lessons regarding ecosystems and rocks and minerals. They can then use either pictures or videos of things they find in nature to teach their classmates what they learned.
If we receive this much-needed digital camera, I will be so excited to show my students that we have a camera JUST for our class!
They will be happy to know I always have access to a camera to document their hard work and excitement about school. By allowing them to photograph their own work, I hope to give them a sense of pride in the work they do.
