My Students

My students are blessed to be part of a STEM school. They are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges! They come up with amazing ideas and thoughts that inspire me as a teacher. Our school is workshop model based and it is awesome to be a part of watching the learning and thinking that goes on, on account of that. I teach second grade at my school and it is inspiring to watch what their little minds can do. Truly, they are awesome and I love every minute of teaching them! Every child has a gift and I love finding out the key to getting my students motivated and proud of what they are doing.

My Project

In our classroom we strive to create an environment where children can take ownership in their learning. It is no secret that in todays world kids love using technology! Last year I found many ways to have them do things like, for example, create a video teaching first graders about vowel teams. They absolutely loved this! ...They were so excited to show them ....however we ended up having to pretend the the first graders got to see it because the background noise from a regular school setting made it impossible to hear them! This would have been so empowering for them. Making "commercials" about text features is another example they LOVED! but again to much surrounding noise to make this effective. Please help me, help them, to have the best second grade year ever!
