The computer lab is a place for learning, exploring, and developing skills. It is a place where students can explore different hobbies and careers and fine tune skills to use out in the world. Students need various mediums to explore the different aspects of what they can do through technology.
Technology opens a whole new world for students.
Technology gives students the freedom to do what they want and be who they want. They could be an engineer, a computer tech, a web designer, etc. This is why students need to have access to technology from the time they are young.
Our school is a Title 1 school in a high poverty area with a diverse population. Our students move to our school from all over the world. I want to give students the opportunities to use their uniqueness through technology projects and show them what the world of technology could do for them.
My Project
I have had several students interested in forming a media team in the last few years. The resources we would receive when this project is fully funded will allow for a media team to form at our school. This team would consist of 3rd-5th grade students who would take video and pictures of events at our school, edit these videos and pictures, and arrange them into a school newspaper and an online school broadcast that would be uploaded to our school website weekly.
The camcorder and accessories will allow for our students to be more informed about what goes on at their school.
The media team will be involved in everything that takes place at our school to report on it to the other students. This allows all the students to keep up with important events at our school, even if they were absent that day. It will also allow the media team to have opportunities to investigate, report, interview, and design their own news post.
These materials are essential to form a media team at our school. The students would appreciate the opportunities that this camcorder would provide them. Thank you.
